Middle School
Grades 7-8
The Canterbury Middle School is a vibrant and welcoming arena for educational, emotional, social and physical growth. The forward-looking program has a rigorous curriculum taught by an exceptional faculty. This adds to the energy of the day-to-day interactions between students, teachers, learning and life.
Middle School students are challenged to pursue excellence in all aspects of their lives and are expected to develop the lasting desire to serve and achieve. The positive and long lasting relationships that evolve, not only in the classroom between teacher and student but also between parents and the school, are an unspoken cornerstone to the successful outcome of the middle school experience for our families and their children.
At this point in their lives, middle school students find themselves wanting a challenge. We allow students this opportunity by offering a balanced choice of non-academic pursuits that are age appropriate and appealing. The existence of a modified block schedule makes it possible for students to achieve a deep conceptual understanding and analysis of the subject matter in an environment that supports the developmental needs of the midde school child. The extracurricular opportunities are plentiful and varied. Off campus outings, community service projects, team sport, band, drama and theater, art, a variety of clubs and academic teams, and the prospect of attending an out of state or overseas summer program all add to the Canterbury Advantage.
We believe the combination of a cohesive and talented faculty, a state of the art facility, a diverse program committed to addressing the needs of students and a family community that embraces the cornerstones of our mission help expand and preserve an excellent education and experience.
