Jake Crandon, a freshman on the Varsity Baseball Team finished the district tournament going 5 for 9 with 2 doubles, 2 rbi and three runs scored. His efforts helped the cougars advance to the regional tournament for the first time since 2000.

The Athlete of the Week is Kyle Babb. Kyle, a sophomore on the varsity baseball team led the Cougars to a 1-1 week with an outstanding pitching performance against North Fort Myers on Wednesday and finished with two hits, two RBI and two stolen bases. Kyle leads the cougars into district play next week.

8th Grader Emma Scott captured the District Championship in First Singles this past week as she led the Lady Cougars Tennis Team to a second place finish at The Vineyards Country Club. The victory secures a spot at the FHSAA State Championships in Orlando next week.

Varsity boys’ tennis player Simon Negin has been selected as the Athlete of the Week. He is undefeated in his debut season, scoring multiple wins in 4th and 5th position singles.

Freshman baseball player Mike Matter pitched two innings of perfect relief and knocked in all 3 runs in the Cougars' stunning 3-2 come from behind victory over Community School of Naples. The victory puts the Cougars at the top of the district standings early in the season.

Alexis Sewell, a freshman standout on the girls varsity basketball team, scored 26 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in two games for the lady cougars last week. The team completed their season with a hard fought defeat to Seacrest this week in the district tournament. Congratulations Alexis!

Congratulations to the Girls Middle School Soccer team and Coach Ryan Butcher on capturing the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference 2013 Championship by beating cross town rival ECS 1-0 in dramatic fashion. Sixth Grader Kendall Flaharty scored the winning goal on a rebound with just over 2 minutes to play and 8th grader Casey Owens recorded a shut-out in goal for the Cougars.  |

Tyler, a junior, had two outstanding efforts on defensive and scored "the goal of the year" so far to go along with two assists in leading the boys' varsity soccer team to a 2-0 record this week. The boys have improved to 6-2-1 on the season and face cross town rival ECS on Friday afternoon. Congratulations!

Eighth grader Olivia has led the girls' middle school soccer team to an undefeated regular season of 6-0-2 this year. For the season, she has scored a team high 20 goals. The girls should be the number one seed in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference tournament in January. Congratulations!

 Kiana Olmstead, senior captain of the girls varsity basketball team scored 8, 10 and 8 points leading the Cougars to a 2-1 record last week. Congratulations!

Sophomore boys' basketball player, Carson, scored 27, 22 and 14 for a total of 63 points last week in three games for the Cougars. Carson is leading the Cougars with a season average of 24.4 points per game.

Lila Gutstein, a junior, helped the varsity soccer team get off to a great start this season. At the game against Oasis High School, she led the team to a 4-2 victory with 2 goals and 2 assists. Lila has shown leadership skills on the field by helping the captain motivate teammates during practices and games. Great job, Lila!

 Alex, a junior, carried the football team on his back last Friday night rushing the ball 28 times for 176 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also passed for one TD in the Cougars' State Semi-final win over City of Life.
Sam, a two-way starter for the Cougar football team, played well on defense - finishing with 9 tackles and 3 pass break-ups. On offense, he had 3 catches and a touchdown. As a kick returner, Sam returned 3 kickoffs for 130 yards, with the last one being the game-winning touchdown! He then secured the game with a key fumble recovery with 2 minutes to play
Sam's efforts helped the Cougars secure a return trip to the state semi-finals on November 16.

Hannah, a senior, advanced to the FHSAA Championships in leading the Cougar swim team at the regional championships in Sarasota this past weekend. Hannah's time of 5:14 in the 500-meter freestyle led the way for the Cougars. Hannah caps off one of the best swimming careers in school history next weekend in Orlando.

Tim broke the cross-country school record in only his third race of the season - finishing with a time of 18:08.53. He helped lead a strong showing on the guys’ side against some of the district schools.

Kendall, a sixth grader, ran a 21:59 at the Celtic Invitational. She started out the season running over 26:00 minutes, but has improved every week. She also took third this past week in the Middle School cross-country race. |

Hailey’s continued dedication to cheerleading and growing the program has been a huge help with the team’s transition to include 6th-12th grade students. She led a 3-hour workshop last Sunday along with Emma Wynekoop, to teach the MS students the varstiy dance and then worked all week with them. Because of her leadership, they were able to perform together at this past Friday’s game.

Hannah, a 6th grade varsity golf player, recorded her career best scores of 113 in districts and 110 in regions this past week. The scores were a team best for the season.

| Emma has almost matched her career high numbers against the last few opponents. With 23 kills, 2 blocks, 8 digs and 3 aces, she has quietly and confidently contributed to the team’s overall 17-6 record.

Seventh grader Hana started running a 5-1 offense this week in volleyball. This means that she was the only setter with 5 hitters. She did a great job of adapting to the change and worked hard to get to every second ball. She also made several kills by dumping the ball on the opponent on the second hit. Her play help lead the Cougars to a win on Thursday against Seacrest! Great job, Hana!

| Luke defined the term “athlete” with his complete performance last Friday night in the 51-0 win vs. Nicaea. Offensively, Luke had a nice game including a touchdown reception. On special teams, Luke kicked 4 touchbacks and 5 extra points. On defense, Luke accumulated 7.5 tackles. All of these accomplishments were in one half of play.

Sixth grader Alex made school history on Thursday, October 4, when she became the first Canterbury athlete to dive in a swim meet. Never before has Canterbury had a diver on the swim team. Not only did Alex dive, she won the meet, placing first with a score of 157.5. Way to go, Alex!

On his 17th birthday (Senior Night), Xylo set a personal best in the 50-free with a time of 26.75 seconds. This was his first time under 27 seconds and is a team-best time this season. Xylo won the 50-free at this meet.

Seventh grader Kelly set a personal best time in the 500-freestyle with a time of 6:17.0. This was Kelly's third best-time this season. She also won the event.

Blake, a sophomore, led the Cougars to a huge victory against Golden Rule Academy by scoring 6 touchdowns. Blake is a versatile player and had 4 rushing TDs and 2 receiving.

Lauren is a co-captain of the MS Cougar volleyball team. She led the team to a 2-0 victory over Community Christian School with 17 service points. She is willing to play at any position and always gives 100% effort.

| Junior outside hitter Carol Marie had a big week for the varsity volleyball team culminating with a come-from-behind win against rival Seacrest. In this match alone, she had 27 kills, 10 digs and three aces, bringing the squad to a 4-1 record and setting the stage for an exciting season. |
New sixth-grade student-athlete, Ashby, worked hard all summer and ran 24:28 this past Saturday at the cross-county meet in Naples. He has a positive attitude at practices and meets!

| Sam, a junior, has graded out above 85% in each of the two regular season games. He had 121 yards rushing, 110 yards receiving and 4 TDs. Sam also had 7 tackles and an interception on defense. |
Dennis ran for a 70-yard TD on the first play of the opening drive in the Middle School 11-man football game against SWFCA. He had two TDs and ran for a lot of yardage. He also played defense and had many tackles.
Molly is co-captain of the MS volleyball team, and is doing an amazing job of leading by example. She has improved her play by leaps and bounds in the last year. She has quite a hard snap on the ball when she is hitting! No matter where the set goes she tries to attack it. Plus, her serves were excellent in our match against Community Christian.
