Athletics

Canterbury’s Athletic Department upholds the school's mission of building character and leadership in a supportive environment. Canterbury believes that athletic competition should be an integral part of the educational experience for most students.

Students are encouraged to become involved with athletics, and about 85% of all Middle and Upper school students participate in interscholastic sports.

Canterbury School is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) and is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS) . The Middle School belongs to the Suncoast Middle School League, which is currently composed of 8 middle schools from Lee County.

Winning championships and being successful are common goals for any team. However, there are many longer-lasting benefits to participating on an athletic team. Dealing with success as well as failure, the understanding of the relationship between dedication, effort, and accomplishment, and the value of true teamwork, are experiences that help students mature and have a lasting impact on their lives.
