Through focus groups with faculty, students, parents, and alumni, one priority emerged clearly: the need for additional classroom space. The Master Plan adds new classrooms, wellness areas, and technology-driven learning spaces for STEM, entrepreneurship, and innovation. A covered Upper School courtyard would also provide space for outdoor learning and collaboration.

A second story for the Middle School would add 8 new classrooms, doubling the existing capacity and supporting future growth.

The Canterbury theater department would benefit from an expanded, versatile space designed to support productions and year-round creative learning. The new area will function both as a large classroom for rehearsals and instruction, and as a dynamic performance venue for school and community events.

Canterbury’s new Performing Arts Center would provide a state-of-the-art venue for assemblies, performances, and schoolwide events. Designed to bring the entire community together, the center will include classrooms and rehearsal spaces that support learning, creativity, and collaboration across all grades.

Canterbury recently completed construction of a new turf field in fall 2025, with a new track scheduled for completion in January 2026. Together with future practice areas and a planned sports performance facility, these upgrades provide year-round opportunities for fitness, training, and community connection.

Existing music and performing arts buildings would be reconfigured to create additional classrooms, supporting expanded arts programming and providing flexible spaces for instruction, rehearsal, and performance.

The Master Plan enhances the flow of campus traffic with redesigned roadways, expanded parking, and updated drop-off areas. A defined security perimeter, new fencing, and reshaped retention areas strengthen safety for all students and visitors.

Canterbury’s Winkler property provides an exciting opportunity for future expansion and enrichment programs. The site would feature athletic fields, courts, batting cages, practice areas, and a sports performance and training facility, supported by two new buildings dedicated to wellness and athletics. We are currently working on permitting to prepare the land for clearing and future development.
