Canterbury’s Upper School offers a range of Programs of Distinction that allow students to deepen their learning, explore areas of interest, and earn special recognition for their accomplishments. These opportunities reflect our commitment to academic excellence and the development of
well-rounded, engaged learners.
Signature Programs
AP Capstone Program
The AP Capstone Program is an advanced two-year program from the College Board that fosters independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills. It consists of two courses, AP Seminar and AP Research, that enhance and complement other AP classes.
- Students who complete both courses and score 3 or higher on four additional AP exams earn the AP Capstone Diploma
- Students who complete both courses with scores of 3 or higher, but not the four additional AP exams, earn the AP Seminar and Research Certificate
Global & Florida Seal of Biliteracy
Florida Seal of Fine Arts
The Florida Seal of Fine Arts honors students who demonstrate exemplary achievement in the visual and performing arts. To qualify, students must complete three year-long or sequential fine arts courses with top grades and meet two or more criteria, such as:
- Completing advanced or honors-level fine arts coursework
- Participating in juried exhibitions or performances
- Completing arts-related community service
- Submitting an original work of art for recognition
- Compiling a portfolio that showcases artistic excellence
This seal is affixed to the student’s diploma and noted on their transcript as a testament to their dedication and talent in the arts.
