New students seeking admission to Canterbury for the 2021-2022 academic year, who are currently in fifth or eighth-grade are eligible to apply for our Need-Based Merit Scholarship.
Recipients of this award will receive one-half tuition scholarships to Canterbury. A satisfactory grade point average, student leadership involvement and a record of good citizenship must be maintained to renew the scholarship for each of the years in attendance at Canterbury. In addition, families who have qualified as need-based families may supplement the Merit Scholarship by requesting additional financial assistance through the financial aid committee. To compete in this program, parents must submit the following documents:
Complete the Parents' Financial Aid Application (PFAA) and submit it with the required fee to FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment by December 1, 2020. When completing the PFAA prior to 2021 we understand the parents' inability to report according to 2020 W-2 forms. Families should estimate their 2020 responses to the best of their ability, based upon their 2019 taxes. For all PFAA application questions, there is a toll-free hotline available at (866) 315-9262.
Those who perform well on this test, and who have submitted the required school records and documents prior to the test, will be invited to participate in a full-day class visit and interview with the Canterbury School Admission Committee at a mutually convenient time and date. Merit Scholar announcements will be made in February 2021.
Need-Based Merit applicants must submit the following documents prior to testing
Applicant must complete and submit the appropriate Student Questionnaire: Grade Six applicant or Grade Nine applicant.
Please download, print, complete, and upload the above required documents to the admission portal where you will find your applicant checklist prior to your test date. Please complete your Parents Financial Aid Application (PFAA) and upload your 2019 taxes to FACTS Grant and Aid application by December 1, 2020. Failure to submit the PFAA and required Need-Based Merit Applicant documents by the due dates will result in an applicant's automatic ineligibility to compete for the Need-Based Merit Scholarship.
