Robert J. Fawcett Scouting Scholarship

For new students seeking admission to Canterbury for 7th, 8th, or 9th Grade
 
 The Robert J. Fawcett Scouting Scholarship was established for students entering Canterbury School in the 7th, 8th, or 9th grades who are currently participating in a local Scouts of America program.  A Robert J. Fawcett Scouting Scholar demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and student leadership. This scholarship is a need-based merit award. Scholars will be announced by March 1, 2021.
 
To compete in this program, students must:
  • be participating in a local Scouts of America program
  • meet certain academic requirements
  • demonstrate leadership qualities
  • take a qualifying test at Canterbury School
  • submit the Parents’ Financial Aid Application (PFAA) to Facts Grant & Aid Assessment.

  • > 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION

    Complete the Canterbury Application with a recent photograph. Individual testing appointments should be scheduled any time prior to January 31, 2021. Please contact Julie Peters at 239-415-8945 to schedule your child’s individual assessment once the required documents have been submitted.
  • > 2. COMPLETE REQUIRED ADMISSION DOCUMENTS

    Complete the required documents and submit to the admission office.
     
    Provide the following:
    1. Student’s previous year’s final report card
    2. Student’s most recent report card
    3. Student’s most recent standardized testing results report in national percentile
    6. Release the recommendation forms to your child’s math and English teachers for completion (forms accessed on your student’s checklist)
    7. Release the Letter of recommendation to one of your current Scout leaders (forms accessed on your student’s checklist)
    8. Contact Julie Peters (239-415-8945) to schedule your admission assessment once the required documents have been submitted.
  • > 3. COMPLETE THE PARENTS' FINANCIAL STATEMENT

    Complete the Parents' Financial Aid Application (PFAA) and submit it with the required fee to FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment by January 15, 2021. When completing the PFAA prior to 2021 we understand the parents' inability to report according to 2020 W-2 forms. Families should estimate their 2020 responses to the best of their ability, based upon their 2019 taxes. For all PFAA application questions, there is a toll-free hotline available at (866) 315-9262.
  • > 4. UPLOAD REQUIRED FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS TO YOUR FACTS GRANT AND AID ACCOUNT

       • Copies of parents' signed 2019 Federal Income Tax Return Form 1040, personal and business, and all schedules by January 15, 2021.
       • Copies of your 2019 W2 Forms
       • (Optional) A letter explaining any special or unusual circumstances that affect your family's ability to contribute financially.
       • For those students receiving the Robert J. Fawcett Scholarship award, copies of parents' signed 2020 Federal Income Tax Form 1040, personal and business, and all schedules by April 15, 2021.
Recipients of this award, “Robert J. Fawcett Scholars,”
will receive a need-based scholarship to Canterbury.
Involvement and continuing participation in a local Scouts of America program, a satisfactory grade point average, and student leadership must be maintained to renew the scholarship for each of the years in attendance at Canterbury.
