Congratulations to Jessica E. ’21 for being our Athletes of the Week for April 29 - May 5, 2019!
“At the Florida High School Track & Field State Championships, Jessica was crowned a two-time state champion in the 800m and 1600m events. She backed up her 2018 800m state title and was undefeated throughout the entire season in that event. Jessica's time of 2:08.4 was the fastest time coming out of all classifications in the state and is ranked second in FHSAA state meet history in all classifications. She is currently ranked number seven in the country. She leads wire to wire in both races and clocked a 5:06.78 in the 1600m, easily outpacing the rest of the field. Jess raced the anchor leg of the 4x800m relay team, which includes Michelle B. ’23, Giana D. ’25, and Bailey W. ’20. They raced to a fantastic fifth place finish at the state meet, reached the medal stand, and set a new school record! I am incredibly proud of Jessica and the entire team that competed at state. These athletes competed with heart and represented Canterbury well. A total of 10 state medals were earned by this state team. We are Canterbury Proud!” shared Coach Charlotte Edwards.
