LIFT OFF Entrepreneurship Students Complete Island Project
Upper School students in Canterbury’s LIFT OFF Entrepreneur Program wrapped up their first major presentation. Our Introduction to Entrepreneurship Honors class worked tirelessly throughout the month of October to problem solve for Tarpon Lodge and Cabbage Key.
On November 5, 2020, we welcomed owner Rob Wells to campus, following COVID safety procedures, so that he can see these presentations in person and provide feedback after each one. After their field trip to his businesses in early October, Mr. Wells challenged the students to creatively think about the issues of trash disposal on a remote island, staffing, and environmental sustainability.
Our Entrepreneurship students delivered, with imaginative ideas ranging from the use of metal or paper straws, composting and compacting trash, having customers take their own trash for a discounted meal, and creating more opportunities with an online merchandise site and paddleboard soccer. Thank you to Mr. Rob Wells for taking the time to visit campus and listen to our student’s presentations.
