Athlete of the Week: November 10-16, 2025

Congrats to Mia W. ’26! Coach Ryan Stafford shared, “This was Mia’s first Regional meet of her running career, and she took full advantage of the opportunity - running a personal best for the 5K by 5 seconds and setting a personal course record by an incredible 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Mia has been committed to the program since the very first day of practice in June, showing up every single day with determination, focus, and a willingness to push herself beyond her limits. Her performance this weekend is a testament to that consistency and hard work paying off at the most important time of the season.”

Coach Stafford continued, “Watching Mia achieve a personal best when it mattered the most - and seeing the joy and pride on her face afterward - is exactly why we coach. She embodies the heart of our team: dedication, resilience, and the ability to rise to the occasion. Mia has been an incredible example for her teammates, showing that improvement comes from patience, persistence, and passion for the sport.”

Mia’s standout performance not only highlights her individual talent but also inspires the entire Canterbury Cross Country program. Her record-breaking run has set the stage for an exciting State meet this upcoming Saturday, where we are confident she will compete with the same intensity and drive she has shown all season.

We are so proud to have Mia on the team, and we can’t wait to watch her continue to shine for the Cougars. Congratulations, Mia, on being named Athlete of the Week! 💙 🐾
