Canterbury’s Banner B. '28 Makes Florida High School Football History, Named Athlete of the Week

In one of the most extraordinary athletic performances in Canterbury School history—and in the history of Florida high school football—sophomore running back Banner B. '28 delivered a night that will be remembered for years to come. During Canterbury’s playoff matchup on October 29, 2025, Brockington rushed for an astonishing 567 yards and scored nine touchdowns, placing him among an elite group of just five players in Florida history to surpass the 500-yard rushing mark in a single game.

The performance wasn’t just dominant - it was historic. Every carry showcased Banner’s explosive speed, power, vision, and remarkable chemistry with his offensive line and teammates. As the game progressed, the energy around the stadium shifted from excitement to awe, with each run defying expectations and pushing the Cougars deeper into postseason momentum.

Behind the record-breaking numbers is a story even more powerful. Worn and weathered from a full season of play, the back plate of Banner’s pads bore a quote his mother had written: “You don’t know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” Following the loss of Banner’s father to cancer, these words carry deep meaning for his family and serve as a daily reminder of resilience, courage, and strength on and off the field.

That strength was unmistakable during this electric game - present in every explosive cut, every broken tackle, and every touchdown that electrified the crowd. Coaches and teammates praised not only Branner's performance but also the teamwork that made it possible. The offensive line delivered snap after snap with focus and grit, creating space for what became one of the top rushing performances ever recorded in Florida high school football.

“Banner is an exceptional athlete, but what sets him apart is his heart,” said Coach Vince Camarca. “He plays for his team, for his family, and with a level of determination that inspires everyone around him. Banner had a career game this week in the first round of the SSAA 2A playoffs. He set two state records, rushing for 556 yards and scoring 9 rushing touchdowns. Both stats set new state records. Banner continues to grow as a running back for the Cougars and has placed himself in an elite category alongside current NFL running back Derrick Henry, who held the previous record from 2012–2021 at 502 yards.”

In recognition of this historic achievement, Banner has been voted Athlete of the Week for October 27 - November 2, a well-deserved honor celebrating his talent, leadership, and dedication. Canterbury’s football community, along with students, families, alumni, and fans, has rallied behind Banner and the team with extraordinary pride.

Brockington’s record-setting night shines a bright spotlight not only on his personal journey but also on Canterbury football as a whole. The Cougars’ playoff run continues with renewed confidence, and the impact of Banner’s strength—both physical and emotional—will be remembered for years to come.

Canterbury School celebrates this historic achievement and looks forward to the next chapter of Cougar football. Congratulations to Banner, the offensive line, the coaching staff, and the entire team on a night that will be remembered forever at Canterbury.
