Class of 2034 Crosses the Courtyard into Middle School

On Friday, May 29, 2026, Canterbury’s Lower School celebrated the Class of 2034 during the annual Crossing the Courtyard ceremony, a beloved tradition marking the transition from Lower School to Middle School.

Head of Lower School Nikki Ernst led the ceremony, reflecting on the students’ growth, accomplishments, and journey through Lower School. Each student was then presented with a Certificate of Promotion by Head of School Rick Kirschner.

Head of Middle School Cara Summit welcomed the Class of 2034 to Middle School, sharing her excitement for the new experiences and opportunities ahead. Under the direction of Lower School Music and Performing Arts Teacher Cathy Truesdale, the class also gave a final Lower School performance of “Watch As We Walk On Our Way.”

Following the ceremony, students took one last walk through the Lower School halls to thank their teachers before officially crossing the courtyard and beginning their Middle School adventure.
