Robles Family Shares Peruvian Culture and “Chifles” Lesson with Spanish III Students

Spanish III students in Mrs. Zavala’s class enjoyed a truly special cultural learning experience during a recent visit from the Robles family.

Jannina’s grandmother, visiting from Peru, joined the class as a guest speaker and taught students how to make “chifles,” a traditional Peruvian plantain treat. Students had the opportunity to engage with a native Spanish speaker while learning about Peruvian culture, language, and the meaningful connections between food, nature, and health.

We are grateful to the Robles family and especially Jannina’s grandmother for sharing her time, warmth, and culture with our students and making this a memorable experience in Spanish III.
