Canterbury’s Marathon Raises $27,000 for Local Causes

On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, Canterbury School students, faculty, staff, and parents showcased their commitment to service during a special check presentation for their 35th Annual Marathon.
Marathon is a Canterbury tradition in which students run, walk, and dance to raise money for worthy causes. Canterbury selected The Heights Foundation, American Heart Association, and the Dunbar Baseball Program to receive funds from the annual event. We are thankful to these organizations for working with us to educate our students about the great work they do in our community. The presentation by the American Heart Association about the importance of heart health and fitness tied in well with our focus on wellness. Our students also enjoyed learning about how the money they raised for The Heights Foundation will make a difference in the lives of other local children. Finally, we are proud to see the partnership our Cougar Baseball team is building with the Dunbar Baseball program.

On Friday, January 25, students in the Lower and Middle School divisions headed out to our track and racked up dozens of laps. Our Upper School students participated with a dance marathon in the Murphy Sports Center. Through their efforts, we are proud to announce that the Canterbury community raised a total of $27,000! Each charity will receive a donation of $9,000.

Canterbury School would like to send a special thank you to Canterbury parents and Marathon Committee Chairs, Stephanie Allione and Yasmile Santana, for their hard work organizing this great event.
