Legally Blonde: The Musical

With a book by Heather Hach with Music and Lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, Legally Blonde: The Musical is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the MGM motion picture. The show follows the journey towards self-discovery of Elle Woods (played by Arabella L. '21). Elle Woods initially follows her dream guy (Warner) to Harvard to win him back, but ultimately discovers her own self worth does not need to be defined by her relationship. While the show is a musical comedy at heart, it also projects a positive message of empowerment, especially for women. Other prominent performers featured include Cosette D. '19 as Paulette, Christian M. '20 as Emmett, Hunter B. 19 as Professor Callahan, May B. '20 as Brooke, and Taylor C. '21 as Vivienne. The trio of Elle S. '21, Summer M. '20, and Sydney D. '22 portray the Delta Nu Greek Chorus characters Serena, Margot, and Pilar. Jake R. '22 makes his Canterbury Theatre debut in the role of Warner. 

 

Although the content has been softened, the show's sometimes irreverent humor and portrayal of college life earn it a PG or PG13 rating. The musical is likely suitable for anyone in middle or upper school, but it does contain some mild language. Elementary-aged children are discouraged from attending.
