Canterbury Students Learn About Taking Risks From LIFT Speaker Ryan Benson

Canterbury students learned about leadership and the importance of taking risks during a visit from Ryan Benson, principal with A. Vernon Allen Builder, as well as Canterbury alumnus, class of 1999. Ryan spoke with our Upper School students on March 29, 2019, as part of our  Leadership Institute for Tomorrow (LIFT) Lecture Series.
After graduating from Canterbury, Ryan went on to complete his undergraduate degree in Business Administration at Stetson University and his Masters of Business Administration from Florida International University in Miami. After 15 years in the homebuilding industry, Benson had acquired his employer A. Vernon Allen Builder, an ultra-luxury home builder, along with business partner Andy Bringardner, and have grown it into one of the largest luxury builders in Naples.

In addition to speaking with our Upper School students about his career path, Ryan also spent some time with our students in our LIFT OFF Entrepreneur Program to discuss their current project with the Cougar Cave, Canterbury’s school store. After reviewing their research and presentation, Ryan provided some feedback for the students as both an alumnus and a parent of the school. Ryan and his wife Jessica have four-year-old twins, Rory and Banks, that currently attend Canterbury. They also have one-year-old twins, Beckham and Ellie. Ryan is also a member of Canterbury's Board of Trustees.
