Canterbury Senior Wins Second Place at International Science Fair

Canterbury School is proud to share that Luke L. ’19 earned a top award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF).
The event took place May 12-17, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona. Intel ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. The competition featured more than 1,800 young scientists selected from 423 affiliate fairs in more than 80 countries, regions, and territories. Out of the seven Intel ISEF finalists from our regional fair, the Thomas A. Edison Regional Science Fair, Canterbury had two students attend Intel ISEF: Luke L. ’19 and Myesha C. ’19.

Luke L. ’19 took home second place in the category of Microbiology, as well as a cash award of $1,500. His project was named “Green Watts: Investigating Power Production of a Single Chamber Plant Microbial Fuel Cell in a Modular System Comparing Crop Plants, Triticum aestivum, Saccharum officinarum and Zeamays - A Novel Fifth Year Study.” This is Luke’s second trip to Intel ISEF. Last year he took home first place for his research.

Congratulations to Luke on this amazing achievement! And kudos to both Myesha and Luke for their hard work that allowed them to enjoy this incredible experience.
