Ten Seniors Inducted into Cum Laude Society

On Monday, April 6, 2020, ten Canterbury seniors were inducted into the Canterbury Chapter of the Cum Laude Society. Founded in 1906, the Cum Laude Society is dedicated to honoring scholastic achievement in secondary schools.
In a first for Canterbury School, the ceremony was held virtually via live stream due to the coronavirus outbreak situation. While it was not the same as being together, the ceremony still included the many elements that make the event special. Head of Upper School Carl Melamet welcomed the students before introducing Head of School Rick Kirschner as the keynote speaker. Mr. Melamet and Dr. Ron Young introduced the following students, officially inducting them into the 2020 Cum Laude Society:
  • Austin A. ’20
  • Joshua B. ’20
  • Auston B. ’20
  • Michelle F. ’20
  • Madison F. ’20
  • Adam H. ’20
  • Cade K. ’20
  • Christian M. ’20
  • Samantha S. ’20
  • Bailey W. ’20

The ceremony closed with a reading of Ithaka by C.P. Cavafy. Dr. Konstanin Georgiadis and Dr. Ron Young read the poem in both Greek and English.

Congratulations to the inductees!
