Canterbury Runners Headed to Regionals

Our boys and girls cross country teams have wowed us again! On October 31, our runners raced in the District 1A-11 meet to see who would go on to compete at Regionals in Lakeland later this week.
Our boys’ team impressed by placing fifth overall as a team. Three of the boys individually qualified to continue on to Regionals. Charles M. ’23 was in a tight race and won fourth with a time of 17:24. In a race with each other were friends Jake T. ’21 and Jeremy S. ’21. With only a second apart between them, Jake placed thirteenth with 18:59 and Jeremy placed fourteenth with 19:00.

Senior Jessica E. ’21 won first place in the Girls’ individual race with a time of 19:35, and her low point total helped the team score second place overall.  Jessica stated in an interview, “The goal today was not to get through, but focusing on Regionals and States and getting the least amount of points for my team as possible. My big goal right now is Region Champ and with States to hang in the front pack and test my limits.” Gabriella S. ’23 placed seventh with a time of 22:10 and Hayden B. ’23 placed ninth with her 22:15 time. We are so proud of all our runners for their hard work in the crazy Florida heat!
