Canterbury Alumna in FGCU Hall of Fame

Brooke Sweat (nee Youngquist) ’04 has made headlines again! She is the only female to be welcomed to the Inaugural Hall of Fame at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Brooke is in good company, joined by other notable FGCU alumni Chris Sale and the 2013 Men’s Basketball team known as “Dunk City”. Also involved in the Hall of Fame are foundational leaders of the school, Dr. Ben Hill Griffin III, Dr. Bill Merwin, and Duane Swanson Sr. The University is delaying an official ceremony until January 2022 in the hopes to have a large in-person event without masks where everyone can celebrate.

Brooke in particular is being recognized as one of the most successful individual athletes in the school’s history. However, this is not her first Hall of Fame nod; she was also inducted into the ASUN Hall of Fame in 2018. We are thrilled to cheer her on alongside her teammate Kerri Walsh Jennings as they play for gold in beach volleyball this summer at the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
