Canterbury in ArtFest

Are you interested in going to Fort Myers' ArtFest this weekend downtown or online? If so, you can check out Canterbury’s submission to the We Are Overflowing recycled art exhibit.
We Are Overflowing is a national juried exhibit of art crafted from repurposed, discarded, and cast-off materials. Our fifth-grade Visual Art students worked with their teacher, Mrs. Hoefling to use only items approved to be recycled in Lee County. These include plastic, paper, cardboard, and aluminum. Mrs. Hoefling explained, “We acquired all of our materials from recycled items found on our school campus. The students were very inventive at repurposing materials such as making seaweed out of green water bottle caps. My hope is that the art in this exhibit can inspire creative solutions to re-use and upcycle materials to make your own piece of art. ”

This year’s theme is to raise awareness that our country is overflowing with trash and recyclables. You can visit the sculpture this weekend at ArtFest in downtown Fort Myers or take the time to vote for our art students online here starting on Friday, February 5:
