Canterbury Students Excel at Regional Science Fair and Inventors Fair

Canterbury School would like to congratulate our students on another amazing performance at the 2021 Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Regional Science and Engineering Fair and the 2021 Thomas Alva Edison Regional Inventors Fair.
Our Upper School Science Fair advisor, Mrs. Percivall, praised the Upper School Regional Science Fair contestants “I'm so incredibly proud of our students. We only submitted 11 projects and all placed. We submitted in nine categories and eight received first place. Out of the eight students from Charlotte and Lee County who will go to the state competition, four were from Canterbury. And only six made it to Internationals and three were from Canterbury. I don't mean to brag but our kiddos totally rock and I am totally dancing right now! Go Cougars!”

Our Middle School Science Students also did very well. Mrs. Summit, the advisor and the Science Department head, noted, “All six of our researchers received at least one award! We are all so proud of their hard work and determination, despite the obstacles of new research parameters and a virtual fair.” Likewise, our Inventors gave a stellar performance this year. “This year was challenging for sure, and our students did an amazing job on their projects!” said Mrs. Einstein, our Lower School science teacher.

To top it all off, this year Canterbury School took home The Edison Cup for the third year in a row! The award recognizes our school and our students’ accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) endeavors. Points toward The Edison Cup are earned and tracked throughout the year based on participation and performance at Thomas A. Edison Regional Science and Inventors Fairs (TAERSIF) affiliated STEM competitions.

Congratulations to all of our Canterbury students on their amazing achievements!
