The Artist Spotlight: The Cast of Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery and How The Other Half Dies

The Canterbury Arts Department would like to shine the spotlight on The Cast of Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery and How The Other Half Dies.
Both productions are breaking from the more dramatic forms to dive into the world of comedy.  “We wanted to lighten the mood due to COVID this year,” said Mr. Lynch. The Upper School chose an English farce and the cast decided to “put a little English on it”. The Middle School also dove into a murder mystery farce, allowing them to have fun while learning about the production process. Mr. Lynch said, “Both productions challenge the cast to not only understand the comedy found within the dialogue, but also the physical elements as well.”

This is a unique year that has plenty of collaboration between the Upper and Middle School performers. Mr. Jackson elaborated, “For example, we put a lot of thought into the concept and design of the set that would allow both productions to use and benefit from it. Students have stepped up to help build and paint the set and have joined in the designing process during rehearsals.”

The cast of both shows are excited to perform in front of a live audience again.
