Cross Country Running Up the Rankings

Canterbury's Varsity Cross Country teams continue to shatter personal records, positioning the Cougars amongst some of the top teams in the state.
At the Fort Myers XC Invitational on September 11, the team's third meet of the season, the Cougars clocked many personal-best runs en route to Top 15 (boys) and Top 20 (girls) finishes.

For the boys, junior Charlie M. '23 ran a personal best time of 16:50, finishing 16 out of 358 runners. The boys' team averaged an incredible 18:41 thanks to other personal-best times from Luke F. '24, Mason J. '25, Travis H. '25, and Justin H. '24.

The team also had great contributions from Jaxon F. '26 with his Varsity debut time of 20:32, Kai W. '24 (PR), Daniel Z. '22 (PR), Ryan P. '26 (JV/Varsity debut,) Troy G. '26 (JV/Varsity debut), and Ian S. '23.


The girls' team was lead by junior Gabriella S. '23, who finished sixth overall in a field of 297 runners. Gabriella clocked a personal-best time of 19:44. Other key contributors included: Hayden B. '23 (32nd), Mia A. '22, Hannah S. '27, Kaya L. '25 (PR), Brenda Z. '22 (PR), and Mia W. '26.

Our Varsity Cross Country team will be back in action on Saturday at the North Port XC Invitational. The races will start at 7:00 a.m.
