Varsity Boys Soccer Clinches Private 8 Championship

Congratulations to the varsity boys soccer team on defeating Bishop Verot 4-0 to win the 2022 Private 8 Championship.
'Private 8 means a lot to us. We have never lost a game in the Private 8 tournament since its inception, and we did not want to break the streak," said head coach Kevin Schoensee.

For the 11 seniors on the team, it's their final time to leave a legacy on a program that has seen much success thanks to their help.

"They (the seniors) have done a great job of building a legacy, as evidenced in the junior varsity undefeated season," said Schoensee. "Training against the upper classmen has really helped develop the younger players coming up."

The season is not over yet. The Cougar contingency is set to defend their 1A state championship title with the postseason kicking off Monday, January 31. Canterbury has earned home-field advantage throughout the state playoffs.

"Everyone, come out and support this amazing group of kids," said Schoensee. "It is their last time together, and they want to go out on top."
