Athlete of the Week: January 31- February 6, 2022
Congratulations to sophomore varsity basketball player Leroy R. '24 on being selected as our Athlete of the Week for the Week of January 31- February 6, 2022.
The News-Press Athlete of the Week nominee dominated the court, scoring 53 points and grabbed 17 rebounds on the week as he helped lead the Cougars to wins over North Fort Myers High School and Immokalee High School.
"Leroy had a great week of basketball for us last week," said head coach Mike Hibbs. "He's been a catalyst for us on both sides of the court this year, a key to how we were able to claim the first overall seed throughout the district tournament."
Against Immokalee, Leroy recorded a game-high 26 points and snagged nine rebounds in the win.
Leroy and the boys basketball team look to clinch a district championship tonight. The Cougars host Gateway High School at 7 p.m. in the MSC.
