Isaiah Asbed ’22 Announced as a Recipient of the Prestigious Cooke College Scholarship Program

Congratulations to Isaiah Asbed ’22 for being named a Cooke College Scholar. Isaiah is one of 49 high school seniors selected by The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation for the scholarship.
Through the Cooke College Scholarship Program, the Foundation provides Scholars with up to $55,000 per year for up to four years to complete a bachelor’s degree. Cooke Scholars also have access to academic advising, internships, study abroad, and a thriving community of motivated peers. They will be eligible to apply for the Cooke Graduate Scholarship after completing their bachelor’s degree and could receive up to $150,000 in graduate school funding.

Isaiah, along with the other 48 students, entered the Cooke Young Scholars Program during their eighth-grade year. Together, they have attended summer programs on college campuses and participated in enrichment programs from Athens, Greece to Washington, DC.

Cooke Young Scholars and their families work one-on-one with educational advisers to create an individualized learning plan and maximize their high school experience. Members of this cohort have founded organizations, won regional and national academic competitions, published their works, and have been chosen as captains of teams.

For Isaiah, his experience included spending the summer of 2021 conducting collegiate research at the University of Oxford in England. That experience culminated with Isaiah co-authoring an article entitled “Novel Galectin-3 Roles in Neurogenesis, Inflammation and Neurological Diseases” that was published in the scientific journal Cells.
