Eighth Grade LIFT OFF Entrepreneur Students Present to Gladiolus Food Pantry

Our eighth-grade LIFT OFF Entrepreneur students hosted members of the Gladiolus Food Pantry on Monday to present innovative ways for the food pantry to be able to expand their operations and continue to help reduce hunger in Lee County.
The eighth graders visited Gladiolus Food Pantry back in March to get a first-hand experience of the pantry's current operations. They also learned about their growing needs in order to keep up with the demand for food assistance in our area. Gladiolus members posed two areas of need for the students to brainstorm: build a capital campaign to expand into the adjacent property, and develop a step-by-step process to collect food donations from the community.

On Monday, the group reconvened in the PAC to present their cutting-edge ideas to the Gladiolus Pantry staff. Needless to say, they were left speechless.

"I am speechless," said Miriam, a staff member at the pantry. " In all the years I've been at the pantry, nobody has done a presentation like the kids did today. We appreciate all of their efforts to help us."

It was amazing opportunity for our students to have a small part in helping Gladiolus Food Pantry reduce hunger in our community.
