Dr. Mary Smith Receives Fulbright Award

Canterbury School is pleased to announce that Dr. Mary Smith, Upper School World Languages Department Chair, has received a Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program award as announced by the U.S. Department of State on August 18.

As a Fulbright recipient, Smith will share knowledge and make connections across communities in the United States and abroad. She joins an esteemed alumni group that includes more than 140 Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize recipients.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the Fulbright Board for my contributions to global education and my dedication to bringing diverse perspectives to our students at Canterbury," said Dr. Smith. "This grant will allow me to continue my research working with international schools and foster collaboration between our students and students all over the world."

Fulbrighters engage in cutting-edge research and expand their professional networks by continuing research collaborations started abroad and laying the groundwork for future partnerships between institutions.

Upon returning, they become supporters of international exchange by inviting foreign educators to their schools and encouraging colleagues and students to go abroad.
