Three Canterbury Musicians Named to All-State Band Ensembles

The Canterbury Arts Department would like to shine a light on Anthony C. '25, Abby K. '25, and Nathan D. '27 for being selected to All-State Band Ensembles.
Being chosen for a Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Orchestra Association, or Florida Vocal Association All-State ensemble is the highest honor a student musician can receive in the state of Florida.

"We are thrilled to see our students participating in ensembles with the best music students in the state,"  said Antonio Castillo, head of the Canterbury Arts Department. "We are positive they will have a fantastic time representing our school and making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime learning experience,"

Upper School Band Director Zachary Deeter added, "I am so proud of our students. Anthony worked hard for his audition, taking his playing to the next level. Abby has been a great addition to our program. She is a fantastic musician and an important leader within our ensembles."

Anthony will represent Canterbury in the All-State Guitar Ensemble, a first for our school, while Abby will perform in the All-State High School Honors Band. Nathan will represent the Cougars in the All-State Middle School Honors Band.

"Our three students are going to do an excellent job representing our programs at the state level," said Middle School Band Director Mattherw Murrell. "I am quite impressed with Nathan's natural ability to play the french horn and his significant gains this year."

The students will perform in their respective ensembles at the Florida Music Educators Association conference in January.
