Athlete of the Week: January 2-8, 2023
Congratulations to Leroy R. '24 on being selected as our Athlete of the Week for the week of January 2-8, 2023.
In the only varsity boys basketball game of the week coming back from break, Leroy led the Cougars to a big overtime win over East Lee County High School, dropping 39 points last Friday night at East Lee.
"It was a remarkable feat," said head boys basketball coach Mike Hibbs. "He simply refused to let us lose that game as he put the entire team on his shoulders, willing us to victory."
The Cougar boys basketball team was back in action on Thursday night as it opened up Private 8 tournament play against Evangelical Christian School. The Cougars downed the Sentinels 80-56 and will now travel to Community School of Naples on Tuesday, January 17 for the semifinals. Leroy led all scorers with 27 points and nine steals, while JJ added 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
