Three Lower School Students Moving onto Regional Inventors Fair

Congratulations are in order for three Lower School students who will be moving onto the Thomas A. Edison Festival of Light Regional Inventors Fair, presented by SONY Electronics, Inc.
Alessandra C. '33, Ashwin V. '32, and Finley M. '32 will represent Canterbury at the 35th Annual Thomas A. Edison Festival of Light Regional Inventors Fair after competing the school-sanctioned Science Symposium on Saturday, January 14 in the Murphy Sports Center. Each inventor had to keep a detailed logbook, create a display board, draw or make a prototype, and create a 4-6 minute video explaining their invention.

Alessandra is keeping her family, friends, and pets safer with her invention, The Cane Catcher. She developed a trap to catch the poisonous and invasive cane toad. She is super excited about her project because it is keeping people and animals safe, and it made her an inventor!

Ashwin is solving the sad problem of busy parents forgetting their baby in the car seat with his invention, Baby Guard. Roughly 50 children die a year from hot car deaths. Ashwin made a Baby Guard to remind parents that their baby is in the back seat. It can come with or without bells.

Finley developed The Multi-Card. The Multi-Card is the most secure card and allows for you to store multiple cards in one! No more messy wallets and purses.

The three Cougar inventors will participate in the virtual regional inventors fair February 18-25. Awards will be announced with an in-person awards ceremony on February 28.
