FIRST LEGO League Students Participate in Competition and Science Symposium

Congratulations to our Lower and Middle School FIRST LEGO League teams on a successful season of learning and competition! FIRST LEGO League is an after-school club where students are challenged to invent, create, and code using LEGO. This year’s theme focused on different sources of energy.
Lower School students enjoyed building cities with different sources of energy. They showcased their creations at the FIRST LEGO League qualifier event on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Emily A.’31, Kavi R. ’31, Anabelle E. ’31, Sammy S. ’31, Eshan S. ’31, and Vivaan R. ’31 created “Cougar City” and won the Innovative Approach Award. Sophia L. ’31, Brantley G. ’31, Lucas O. ’31, Ashvik P. ’31, Nikolina V. ’31, and Julia C. ’31 created “Legotopia” and won the Coding Award. The students were also featured on WINK News!

Our Middle School students learned all about problem-solving and teamwork this season as they worked to create and code a robot to complete certain tasks. Due to lost time during our recovery from Hurricane Ian, our students did not compete this season. However, we are grateful our students had a chance to showcase what they have learned at our Science Symposium on Saturday, January 14. Congratulations to Will P. ’30, Joseph E. ’30, Gabriel H. ’30, Fisher I. ’30, Dave R. ’30, Cesar N. ’30, Gabe S.  ’30, Noel N. ’29, and Liam T. ’29 for your hard work this year!

We would also like to thank our team coaches Jennifer Stephenson, Colin Bosak, Jeffrey Carstens, JJ Ignac, and Katie Tanner.
