Athlete of the Week: January 23-29, 2023
Congratulations to varsity boys basketball player Matt D. '23 on being selected as our Athlete of the Week for the week of January 23-29, 2023.
Matt posted one of his best games of the year last Tuesday on Senior Night against Gateway Charter, the No. 1 ranked team in the area. He recorded a team-high 21 points, going 7-of-10 from the field and 5-of-8 from the behind the arc. Against Gulf Coast High School, he added 10 points and was perfect from the free throw line.
"I am so proud of Matt and how he stepped up against one of our toughest local matchups," said head coach Mike Hibbs. "We are going to miss his leadership on and off the court after the season."
Matt and the varsity boys basketball team now turn their attention to the district tournament. The Cougars will host Oasis High School in the first round of the playoffs on Monday, February 6 at 6 p.m. in the Murphy Sports Center.
