Cougar Inventors Rack Up Awards at Regional Inventors Fair

It was a near Canterbury sweep at the 2023 Thomas A. Edison Festival of Light 36th Regional Inventors Fair Awards Ceremony on Tuesday night, February 28, at Edison Park Creative and Expressive Arts School.
Five Cougar inventors placed Top 3 in their respective grade divisions, with Alessandra C. '33 (Elementary Division) and Dhira S. '29 (Middle School Division) each taking home Best in Fair for their division!

In the Elementary Division, Alessandra won first place in the second-grade division, as well as Best in Fair for the Elementary Division for her invention, The Cane Catcher. She also received an invitation to the prestigious Henry Ford ICW National Competition in June. Ashwin V. '32 finished third in the third-grade division for his project, Ashwin's Baby Guard.

In the Middle School Division, Dhira swept the field, finishing first overall in the sixth-grade division, as well as Best in Fair for the Middle School Division for his invention, PetBFound. He also received Collaboratory's James & Eleanor Newton $4,000 Scholarship, an invitation to the Henry Ford ICW National Convention, and was nominated for the Imagine Solutions Conference Scholarship. Austan C. '28 brought home first place in the seventh-grade division for his project, The Flawless Wash. 

In the High School Division, Mehereen C. '25 finished second overall in the tenth-grade division for her project, A Second Year Study - A Novel Approach to the Detection of Autism Spectrum Disorder Using Eye Movement as a Biomarker for Assessment (Neurodiagnosis.net). She received an invitation to represent Canterbury at the Henry Ford ICW National Convention for the second year in a row!
