Club Spotlight: HALO

Sophia F. '26 has a passion for kids and serving her community. She wasn't sure how to blend her passions, until one day it clicked.
"I have always had a passion for working with kids and trying to make a small difference in my own community. I was trying to find a way to combine my passions. When I heard about the need for serving kids in the foster care community, I knew that was where I wanted to help."

Enter Club HALO, short for Helping and Leading Others.

"There is so much uncertainty in their lives, but with HALO I just want to give them a normal, fun day to be a kid."

In its first year as a club, Sophia and her Canterbury classmates have partnered with the local foster care community to host a few events at Sky Zone and IMAG. These events aim to provide a sense of normalcy and belonging for the foster kids.

HALO is another inspiring example of how Canterbury students are serving their community. Making a difference in one child may not change the world, but their hope is it will help change the world for that one child.
