Volleyball Players Jump into Action to Support Everglades City

In the wake of Hurricane Irma, several communities in Southwest Florida are in great need of support. One of those communities hit hardest by the storm was Everglades City. With so much flooding, many of the families there are now struggling to rebuild.

Recognizing the community’s need, our Canterbury volleyball players rallied together to provide supplies for the Everglades City School’s volleyball team and their families. On Tuesday night, our Cougars presented gift bags to the players from Everglades City, along with boxes and buckets of other supplies.

“It was an amazing experience, especially watching how quickly our Cougars responded to the call for support. It is definitely satisfying as a coach to see that side of your players. Our friends from Everglades City were so surprised and grateful,” explained Canterbury’s Volleyball Coach Carrie Lundy.

Everglades City School’s Athletic Director Jill Whitcomb echoed those sentiments. “Your school made our players and families feel so much love.”

Many thanks to our Canterbury community, especially our amazing volleyball teams and families, for jumping into action to help Everglades City. We also would like to recognize Next Level Church for their generosity in providing much-needed supplies.
