Athlete of the Week : April 30 - May 4, 2018

Congratulations to Griffin E. ’18 for being our Athlete of the Week for April 30 - May 4, 2018!

Griffin concluded his senior year with some of the best performances of his Canterbury running career. At the regional meet, Griffin set new personal bests in both the 800m and 1600m clocking in at 2:05.85 and 4:44.47 respectively. This 1600m time sets a new Canterbury School record and his 800m performance secured him a spot at the FHSAA state meet in Jacksonville. But there was an unexpected event at the FHSAA state meet this past weekend that Griffin showed true dedication and determination. As an alternate for the boys 4x400 relay team, Griffin was suddenly needed when another member of the team was injured during the long jump event. The problem was, Griffin was already three hours outside of Jacksonville when the injury occurred, on his way home after his 800m event. Without hesitation, Griffin and his parents turned the car around to help his team compete in the 4x400. In now his last event of his high school career, Griffin ran his fastest 400 split. The team of Konner B. ’23, Tyler M. ’19, Nick P. ’20, and Griffin E. ’18 clocked an impressive 3:38.72!
