This course is designed for students who have completed pre-algebra or sixth-grade math. Developing algebraic thinking skills will be the focus as students complete fun and engaging projects, such as Stretching Slinkies, Bulging Backpacks, or the Condominium Building Challenge. Core concepts will include: the language of algebra; the real number system; writing and solving equations; polynomial relations including factorization; variables, equations, and inequalities; functions and graphing; as well as topics, such as integers, ratios, proportions, and percentages. The course will be dynamic and flexible, intended to meet the needs of the students in a small and cooperative summer learning environment.
