Canterbury students grow into compassionate citizens through age-appropriate service experiences. Respect, empathy, and responsibility are woven into classroom culture and community outreach projects.

At Canterbury, character development is woven into daily life in the Lower School. Through classroom discussions, activities, and school-wide initiatives, students learn the importance of kindness, respect, responsibility, and empathy. Our goal is to help children grow not only as learners but as compassionate, ethical individuals who contribute positively to their community.

Canterbury’s Lower School Entrepreneurship Program empowers young innovators through real-world experiences like The Cub Cave, a student-run shop where fourth graders apply math, marketing, and communication skills. Students in K–4 also showcase their creativity in the annual Entrepreneur Competition, pitching their business ideas.

Real-world learning comes to life through engaging field studies that connect classroom concepts to meaningful, hands-on experiences. Lower School students explore marine science at the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, study nutrition and agriculture at 31 Produce, and learn about Florida’s environment at Babcock Ranch.
