SAT/ACT Test Prep

Canterbury School offers Intensive Test Prep programs which are open to all students in the community. Please see below for the latest test prep dates and register online.
Jim Giesen is a Canterbury Mathematics Department faculty member and a professionally trained Test Prep tutor and teacher educator who served as Director of Education for a private tutoring company in St. Petersburg. He has extensive experience in the field of test preparation and has been helping prepare students for standardized tests since 2006.

ACT Test Prep with Jim Giesen

Prepare for the ACT Test on December 12th
December 1-10

The goal of test prep is to gain an in-depth understanding of the ACT format, as well as gain confidence in test-taking strategies by practicing various test questions with guided instruction.

Students should plan to bring their own book.
 
Materials needed: Notebook, pencil, and textbook.

Classes 1, 2, 4 and 5 will be instructional and Class 4 will provide students with a sample test which they will self-score and receive instructor feedback. In the course, students can expect:
  • Lessons to gain an in-depth understanding of all ACT question types.
  • Gain confidence by practicing test question types with guided instruction
  • Practice test midway through class- receive personal feedback and fine-tune and focus study
  • Intensive study in the weeks leading up to the test - be ready on testing day!

This 20-hour course, led by test prep professional and Canterbury faculty member Jim Giesen, will give students valuable strategies and a comprehensive understanding of the test, to optimize results.
