Academic Excellence

Recipients of The Julie Peters Distinguished Scholar Award
demonstrate outstanding academic achievement by
combining a superior GPA throughout a challenging
elementary and middle school curriculum with highly
competitive standardized test scores on the
Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).

Assessment

Students must take the Independent School Entrance
Exam (ISEE)
as part of the application process. Those who
perform well on this exam, and who have submitted the
required school records and documents prior to the exam,
will be invited to participate in an interview with members
of the Canterbury School Admission Committee.

Award

Recipients of this award will receive a one-half tuition
scholarship to Canterbury School the year of their
acceptance and for every year the student attends
Canterbury. Yearly renewal of the scholarship is contingent
upon the maintenance of the high standards for which
it was awarded. Such standards include a superior
grade point average, involvement in the school community,
and a record of good citizenship. Families who have qualified
as need-based families may supplement The Julie Peters
Distinguished Scholar Award
by requesting additional
financial assistance through the financial aid committee.

FACTS Application

The Julie Peters Distinguished Scholar Award is a need-based scholarship. Eligibility for this financial award is contingent
upon the submission of a completed FACTS application by
the January 15 deadline. FACTS applications will be reviewed
by the financial committee to determine financial need.

Canterbury School does not use financial need as a consideration
in assessing a student's eligibility for admission. The admission
and financial aid processes are separate and distinct. No decisions regarding financial aid are made until the student is accepted
and space is available in the desired grade level.
