Upper School Students Named as Prefects for Canterbury’s LIFT Program
Canterbury School would like to congratulate our Upper School students recently selected as Prefects for our Leadership Institute For Tomorrow (LIFT) program.
Our LIFT program is a school-wide initiative that aims to integrate leadership learning into the academic education and everyday classroom experience for all our students. LIFT aims to equip our students with the real-world leadership skills they need to succeed in the future.
The Prefect System is another dimension of the LIFT program. The system originated in boarding schools where prefects assisted in mentoring younger students in dormitories.
“For Canterbury School, our Prefects will represent the Honor Code, teach leadership and character to our Middle and Lower School students, and help reboot our LIFT program through guest speakers and other service opportunities,” shared Mr. Rick Kirschner.
This year, a faculty committee recommended and selected students to serve as Prefects. Once named a Prefect, the student will serve in the role for their entire Upper School career, provided the student continues to uphold Canterbury’s Honor Code.
