Track + Field Shines at Regionals, Six Headed to States

Our Canterbury Track and Field team put together an outstanding performance at the regional meet, showcasing grit, speed, and strength across the board. The top two finishers in each event earned automatic bids to the state meet, with the next ten best statewide performances also qualifying. With several PRs and strong finishes, six of our athletes are officially bound for the FHSAA 1A State Championship in Jacksonville on May 10!

Boys’ Highlights

Mason J. ’25 hit his stride, running a PR of 23.30 in the 200 meters (11th place) and a PR of 51.61 in the 400 meters (5th place). His performance earned him a spot at States in the 400 meters.
 
Travis H. ’25 ran a gutsy 1600 meters, going out with the leaders at a blistering pace and nearly breaking the school record, finishing 10th in 4:36.35. He also dipped back under the 10-minute mark in the 3200 meters with a time of 9:58.78, giving him a potential wildcard shot at state.
 
Collin M. ’25 soared to third place in the high jump at 1.82m (5' 11.5") and officially qualified for States.

Girls’ Highlights

Cheyenne M. ’26 earned an automatic state qualification in the 400 meters with a massive two-second PR of 58.88, placing second overall. She also competed in the 100 meters (13.24) and helped power the 4x400 relay team.
 
Joslyne D. ’26 was unstoppable, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.78—currently the #1 time in Florida 1A! She also placed sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.42 and has officially qualified for States in both events.
 
Clara T. ’27 took fourth in the 800 meters with a strong 2:24.04 and has officially secured a wildcard spot at States. She also anchored the 4x400 relay team to a 7th place finish alongside Cheyenne M. ’26, Carlie M. ’28, and Sidney D. ’28.
 
Ava W. ’27 placed third in the high jump at 1.52m (4' 11.75") and is officially headed to States.
 
Lydia K. ’27 was a double PR machine, throwing 9.23m (30' 3.5") in shot put for 7th place and 26.64m (87' 5") in discus for 10th.
 
Livi F. ’26 clocked an eight-second PR in the 3200 meters, finishing in 12:17.99.
