Congratulations to Collin M. ’25 and Joslyne D. '26 on being selected as our Athletes of the Week for May 5-11, 2025!
This week, we proudly recognize Collin M. and Joslyne D. as our Athletes of the Week. Both standout competitors have demonstrated remarkable growth, resilience, and determination throughout their track and field careers, culminating in stellar performances at the FHSAA 1A State Championship in Jacksonville.
Collin M. earned a silver medal in the High Jump, clearing an impressive 1.92 meters despite less-than-ideal conditions. The event began early at 8 a.m., but was quickly interrupted by a rain delay after the opening height. Collin had to wait more than three hours before attempting his next jump.
“Collin showed incredible patience and mental toughness,” said Head Coach St. Gean. “To come back after such a long delay and perform like that on a wet track - it really shows his commitment and focus.”
Collin, who graduates in May, will continue his jumping career at the collegiate level.
On the track, junior Joslyne D. also captured second place, this time in the 100-meter hurdles. Competing with a pulled hamstring and a stress fracture in her heel, Joslyne pushed through pain and limited warm-up time due to the same rain delay. She posted the fastest 1A time of the season and was narrowly edged out in the final stretch of the race.
“Joslyne is one of the toughest athletes I’ve ever coached,” said Coach St. Gean. “She battled through injuries and still delivered an elite-level performance. She’s a force in hurdles, sprints, and jumps.”
Joslyne also qualified for the 200-meter dash, showcasing her versatility. As she heads into her senior year, expectations are high for another standout season.
Congratulations to Collin and Joslyne on their well-earned recognition and outstanding state meet performances!
