Canterbury Students Excel at State DECA Event

Congratulations to several of our Upper School students on an impressive performance at the 60th Annual Florida DECA Career Development Conference. The event took place on March 5-8, 2020, in Orlando.
Ryan C. ’20 earned first place in the individual event of Principles of Hospitality and Tourism. Adam H. ’20 and Nick P. ’20 won third place in Financial Services Team Decision Making. Erin R. ’20 and Patrick H. ’20 took sixth place in Hospitality and Tourism Team Decision Making. Selin H. ’21 earned Examination Distinction for a top exam score in Business Law and Ethics. 
 
“This was our first time ever as a school to attend this event and I am so proud and impressed by how well our students did,” shared Upper School Mathematics Teacher and DECA Advisor Liam Kean. “Not only did they hold their own and compete against thousands of top students in business and entrepreneurship from across the state of Florida, but they took home some awesome distinctions.”

DECA, which stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, aims to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interests in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. Click here to learn more about DECA.
