Lara K. '23 Named Robertson Scholar

Congratulations to Canterbury senior Lara K. ‘23 on being selected for the prestigious Robertson Scholars Leadership Program. The Class of 2027 Scholars comprises twenty-six of the brightest and most dynamic first-year students at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill, representing three continents and 15 states.
Scholars are selected based on a student’s commitment to outstanding academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, strength of character, purposeful leadership, and collaborative spirit. As a Robertson Scholar, Lara will receive full tuition, room and board, as well as student privileges at both Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill.

In addition to customized leadership development experiences during the academic year, Lara and fellow scholars are also awarded three generously funded summer experiences to supplement their learning and have access to ongoing leadership development grants.

Lara will attend Duke University in the fall and plans to major in Biology and Global Health. In addition to her major studies, Lara looks forward to studying Spanish translation, disaster response, and English literature thanks to the Robertson Scholar Leadership Program.

During her 12 years at Canterbury, Lara has found much success in a variety of areas, most notably with her scientific research. She won Best in Fair at the 2022 Florida State Science and Engineering Fair for her independent research project 'Analyzing the Viability of Pure Mushroom-Derived Chitosan as an Alternative to Pure Crustacean-Derived Chitosan in Hemostatic Agents'.
