Dr. JoAnn Deak to Visit Canterbury School for Speaker Series

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 5-6:00 p.m. and Friday, December 15, 2017, from 8-9:15 a.m. in Canterbury’s Ellenberg Library, Dr. JoAnn Deak, a 30-year educator and psychologist, will speak to parents, students, faculty, and alumni. 

 
Using brain research, Deak has devoted her career to helping children grow into independent and confident adults. Alongside her work with students, she has spent much time working with parents and educators to define their role in the lives of children.
 
According to her biography, Deak has been praised by schools and organizations such as the National Association of School Psychologists, the National Association of Independent Schools and the Association of International Schools, for demystifying “complex issues of child development, learning, identity formation and brain research.”
 
Deak is the author of and contributor to many books and articles including The Driver’s Manual for Your Adolescent Brain, How Girls Thrive and Your Fantastic Elastic Brain.
